In order to ensure that the product is absolutely reliable after each user receives the product, NEJE has done a complete machine test for each device, you only need to simply install 6 screws to complete the initial assembly.
It is recommended to install the X-axis drag chain support frame first, and then install the X sliding assembly;
The M7 relay module is generally used for the control of the smoke exhaust system. Some users also use it to control the oxygenator, which is not very safe! M8 air valve is generally used to control the air circuit of the user. You need to cut the air pipe according to the actual situation, and connect the other end to the air compressor or other air source; Y-R motor don't forget to connect.
M7 relay expansion accessories, can be used to control AC or DC power supply smoke exhaust system, can also be used to control other circuits, used as M8, there are safety risks when operating high-voltage circuits, requiring professional operation; M8 valve expansion accessories, can be used To control the air compressor switch.
NEJE did not match the M4 screws to fix the air valve. NEJE designed this air valve with a control line length of 1 meter, mainly for external use. NEJE retained the machine installation plan, and some users may receive products that do not include 2 M4x6mm screws, sorry for the inconvenience.
It is recommended that the 4 feet be fixed on the wooden table top with corner codes, if you are interested, you can download the CAD file Laser_Box.DWG to make a simple protective box.
Push the left and right sides to the end position to ensure parallelism; connect the power supply, the motor will automatically lock the motor after power on;
Make sure to push this laser Gantry to the TOP RAIL BY HAND when assembly is done! This will ensure the left and right stepper motors and timing belts are in sync. The TOP RAIL has hard, equal stops; the bottom does not!

Step 3: Safety Attention

Step 4: Place Materials
Make sure the plane of the engraved material is at the same distance from the laser, so that the focus position is consistent and the engraved image is burned evenly.
Step 5: Adjust Focus
The NEJE A40640 module adjusts the focus to 55mm by default. This is because the NEJE factory has to ensure the consistency of product testing. When you receive the product, it is recommended to use a flat-blade screwdriver to adjust the focus to 2-3mm from the light shield.

The A40640 is an adjustable focus module. Guide image above is a guide for the best adjustment settings. You can use a flat-blade screwdriver to adjust the focus position. Proper focus selection is a critical factor for cutting. You may need to try more few times. In addition, adding air assist will enhance cutting and engraving results, resulting in cleaner edges and enhanced cutting thickness and cutting efficiency.
When the focus is adjusted to about 33mm from the light outlet with a flat-blade screwdriver, you can get a focus of 0.04mm, which is suitable for engraving stainless steel or black alumina etc.
When focusing to 55mm position (Rotate the lens to the bottom), you can cut material up to 20mm (requires accurate focus, 0.6-1.5mpa air assist to align the cut).
Set the right low light to find the focus more accurately:
Find the best focus by rotating the lens. If it is a module with a fixed focus, it is enough to find the distance between the module and the object. Usually, we use a certain thickness of material to pad under the module to help find the best position.
Adjust the suitable low light through the software. The NEJE mode can be adjusted in the “Settings” column of the NEJE Win software; the GRBL mode can be adjusted in the “Grbl Configuration” of the laserGRBL software, which has been explained above.
Put a gray cardboard on the surface of the white material (such as plywood) as a focus reference to find the precise focus. A fine focal point can be observed through the protective goggles or the shade of the module.

The air nozzle must be aligned with the cutting port to blow off the carbonized material, otherwise it will be ineffective. The focus must be located at the lower position of the material surface, otherwise there will be a certain degree of inhomogeneity in the X and Y axes. This is the optical feature of the optical diode laser, not a quality problem.
When do you need air assist
Air-assisted engraving or cutting can only be used for engraving or cutting that produces more carbonized substances. Generally, the depth of engraving is less than 1mm, and the cutting of plywood less than 2mm does not require air assist. A small fan can be used to blow off the smoke generated by the engraving. Air assist is not recommended when engraving images, and adding air assist at this time will destroy image details.
What kind of air pump is suitable for cutting
The main meaning of air assist is to blow off the carbonized material produced by cutting, and the general oxygener and electromagnetic inflator have almost no meaning. only the pressure of the oil pump and air compressor (0.4-1.5mPa) has the effect of blowing away the carbonized material. but it should be noted that the air of the oil pump contains oil and cannot be directly used for the air-assisted module of the closed cavity, otherwise the oil will contaminate the lens, resulting in power drop or damage to the lens. The air pressure of the air compressor can be used for a short time with the closed cavity, but When used for a long time, the water-containing gas will contaminate the lens, cause the power to drop, and even damage the lens.
How to add air assist on the A40640 laser module
The NEJE A40640 module is an adjustable focus module. For the consistency of testing, the NEJE factory adjusts the module to 55mm focal length by default. This focal length is suitable for cutting thicker materials. This focal length is generally not commonly used. When you are suitable for the first use of the product, it is recommended to use a flat-head screw to adjust the focal length to about 30mm, which is 1-2mm away from the light baffle. This focal length has a very high focal power density and can directly engrave grayscale stainless steel images\ gray-black stone and other hard materials, NEJE A40640 can directly engrave 3D hardwood and other materials, and does not require air assistance, due to the high energy density design, A40640 can directly vaporize general wooden materials during the engraving and cutting process, so it is also unecessary to add air assist.

Solution with clean air source (air compressor + air filter equipment)
If you cut sheets for a long time, air assist can help you complete the project more efficiently. You can add air assist at around 30mm or at 55mm, depending on the thickness of your material; NEJE will provide 2 different focal lengths. Download the air-assisted 3D printing module, the 3D printing material is more lightweight, and it will hardly affect the weight of the module. However, when using it, it needs to align the light outlet. If it is not aligned with the center of the light outlet, it may cause the laser to burn the 3D printing Gas nozzle.

E30130 module can directly use clean air source (4mm air pipe).

Cutting MDF board requires 0.6-1.5mPa air pressure to efficiently clean the carbonized material. The MDF board needs high-pressure gas to assist in cutting. The ordinary oxygener cannot provide high-pressure gas.

A40640 modules and modules with similar external air sources can work without air assistance, and the modules designed with the cavity must work under the conditions of increased air assistance, otherwise it is easy to contaminate the lens and cause the lens high temperature rupture;
Step 7: Power Setting
A40640 is a module specially designed for top engraving capability, the lightweight design enables fast engraving and perfect high energy density light spot, if more than 80% of your work is engraving, you can set 100% power, if you mainly use For cutting, it is recommended to set the power at 80%. A good thermal balance is conducive to the continuous stability of the power. 100% power can provide 12W+ pulse output, 80% power can provide continuous 10W output.
Step 8: Start Creating
Please set according to the material reference parameters, the actual effect will have errors, different material density, focusing accuracy, air-assisted air pressure strength and accuracy, whether the material is placed flat or not will affect the engraving or cutting effect;

Please refer to the official instructions for laserGRBL. It should be noted that NEJE 3 Max has added M8, M7 and Door to adapt to laserGRBL. In addition to the low-light settings mentioned above, you need to add M8 to the .nc file to control the air to open, M7 controls the exhaust to open, M9 controls them to close;
Start with Lightburn
For the use of lightburn software, please refer to the lightburn official documentation. It should be noted that the M8 function needs to be turned on in the lightburn layer setting, and the M7 needs to be manually turned on by referring to the previous method. Lightburn defaults to signal the M9 to turn off the engraving end, and the Door function only works in lightburn mode. Can be stopped, but cannot resume engraving after stopping, NEJE mode and laserGRBL mode can resume engraving after the Door function is activated;
- Dust cleaning: regularly clean the dirt and dust on the tracks and wheels, and check the tightness of the timing belt.
- Lens cleaning: Smoke from engraving or cutting, or oily air sources may contaminate the lens. After contaminating the lens, the lens will be broken due to the high temperature of the laser. It is recommended to use alcohol to clean the lens surface frequently;
- Moisture-proof storage: If your laser machine is not used for a long time, we suggest adding some anti-rust oil to the metal places such as the screws and bearings of the machine to avoid metal rust, and store it in a dry environment.
